AHK Hosts Workshop on the Latest Customs Facilitation Measures and Procedures

MTS, in cooperation and coordination with the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Egyptian Customs Authority, organized an introductory workshop titled "The Latest Customs Facilitation Measures and Procedures" on Wednesday 8 July 2026 in the chamber’s headquarter, to present the latest customs facilitation initiatives and procedures to the Chamber's members

The workshop was held as part of the Ministry of Finance and the Egyptian Customs Authority's commitment to implementing the directives of the Prime Minister's Office to modernize the customs system, reduce customs clearance times, and enhance the efficiency of customs operations. These efforts are being carried out under the guidance of H.E. Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, and Mr. Ahmed Amawy, Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority.

The event was attended by Mr. Ahmed El Asqalany, Deputy Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority and Head of the Exporters Support Unit, and Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud, General Manager of Postal Customs at Cairo International Airport.

Representing MTS were Eng. Gamal Kotb, General Manager, Eng. Khaled Nassef, Official Spokesman and Media Advisor; Dr. Ahmed El Shahat Business Intelligence Director and Decision Support Solutions Sector, Eng. Mohamed Khamis Business Analysis Manager  Mr. Refaie Ibrahim Logistics Center Ops. Deputy Director and Ms. Menna El Banna, Marketing and Public Relations Specialist.

The workshop was attended by 130 participants representing the business community from 80 companies of AHK members, reflecting the strong interest of the private sector in keeping pace with the latest developments in Egypt's customs system.

The session was moderated by Ms. Karin El Shafie, Head of Operations at the AHK. She welcomed the attendees and highlighted the successful cooperation between the Chamber, MTS, and the Egyptian Customs Authority, emphasizing their shared commitment to strengthening communication with the business community, listening to stakeholders' feedback, and continuously enhancing the Customs Authority and NAFEZA platform.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Ahmed El Asqalany welcomed the participants and reviewed the Customs Authority's development strategy and the latest progress in modernizing the customs system. Eng. Gamal Kotb then addressed the audience, highlighting the strategic partnership between MTS and the Egyptian Customs Authority and the role of technology in facilitating cross-border trade, simplifying customs procedures, and improving Egypt's business environment.

Mr. Ahmed El Asqalany also delivered a detailed presentation on the latest customs developments, including the implementation of the Comprehensive Risk Management System and the most recent updates to Delivery Order procedures.

Eng. Mohamed Khamis presented the new package of facilitation measures aimed at reducing customs clearance time. His presentation covered the Advance Clearance System, the development of Delivery Order procedures, and the latest enhancements to the Comprehensive Risk Management System, demonstrating how these initiatives contribute to faster and more efficient customs processing.

The workshop concluded with an open discussion between the attendees and representatives of the Egyptian Customs Authority and MTS. Participants raised numerous questions and inquiries, which were addressed by both parties in a constructive dialogue that reinforced collaboration with the business community and supported ongoing efforts to modernize Egypt's customs system.
